16. Everybody In Buckhorn's Having An Affair Apparently

This scene could easily have been spilt across 5 or 6 different entries, but we've all got other things to do today so I'll try and condense it for you.

Having fluffed his interview and found out his fingerprints are all over the scene of the murder, Principal Bill sits agonising in his jail cell awaiting his lawyer's help. Luckily his wife's here to cheer him up and - pens and paper at the ready - we're pummelled with revelations.

1) Bill confides in his wife that, although he swears he wasn't there, he did have a dream that same night that he was! WTF.

2) Phyllis takes this haymaker in her stride before countering with a stern jab. She knows he's been having an affair with the librarian the whole time! WTF

3) Dazed and reaching for the ropes, Bill then fires back with a "lookee here" and says he know she's also having an affair! WTF!

4) With his lawyer! WTF

5) And maybe someone else too! WTF

The accusation doesn't even phase her though, as she tells Bill he's going to prison for a long time and saunters out of the cell. We, the audience, can merely blink open-mouthed and hope we've taken that all in.
