27. The Glass Box, And Literally Everything About This Scene

There are few tropes more typical of David Lynch than the ability to unsettle you with things that aren't even happening. We're taken to an apartment in New York City, where a student called Ben is simply watching an empty glass box in a room full of cameras.

As well as the 200-odd questions it raises, it's also got one of the most sinisterly silent atmospheres ever committed to TV. The arrival (and rejection) of his friend and the reveal of an armed guard outside only adds to the tension.
