Surprise, surprise guys - the most brutal TV episode of 2014 was in fact, NOT in Game of Thrones, but in season two of Vikings. Staying true to Vikings traditions, Michael Hirst made sure the scene was as realistic as possible, and of course the more brutal, the better.

Jarl Borg was a scaly fella from season two who threatened Ragnar's family and being the passive agressive person that Ragnar is, Jarl Borg ultimately suffered the most brutal, slow and painful death at the end of the season by the Blood Eagle.

Don't know what it is? Here is a description in the words of Ragnar Lothbrok: “The offender gets down on his knees, and his back is opened with knives. And then, with axes, his ribs are chopped away from his spine, and then his lungs are pulled out of this huge bleeding wound and laid upon his shoulders so they look like the folded wings of a great eagle. And he must stay like that  - suffering - until he dies. If he suffers in silence, he may enter Valhalla. But if he screams, he can never enter its portals.”
