Wait...what? As we've discussed and debated this entire piece, everyone is talking about Terminus and heading in that direction. It's all but assured that everyone will be meeting up at this place on the finale episode. After the fall of the prison everyone was split up into separate groups and its been clear since the start of the second half of the season that everyone that's left alive will reunite at this place. The real question is, what is Terminus? As a fan of the comic book, it's never introduced or mentioned so it's an assumed new location. Although hinted previously that Terminus could be the sanctuary of Negan and the Saviors, I really don't think that we're quite there yet as we just dispensed of the Governor. The survivors need to face a new threat before we're introduced to the next bad guy that's lurking out there. There's so much that still has to happen and unless the executives are going to leap frog a lot of stuff, no way we see Negan and the Saviors yet. Yet! So what is Terminus? Terminus is Atlanta and our survivors are going to be in for a huge shock as well as the audience. I think a lot of people are going to rage when they find out that's where everyone ends up but from a story perspective it's brilliant. It's basically a reset button as the show moves in a new direction and a new journey begins. Historically, Atlanta was originally known as terminus, which means "end of the line". It was known as terminus or the end of the line because all of the railroad lines ended there at that location. If you take notice of the Terminus map, the lines are clearly railroad lines leading to one central location. Think about it: the survivors had been holed up in the prison for quote a while, they had no back up plan for the actual fall of the prison forcing everyone to scatter. They were completely disoriented with their surroundings as a result and had no idea in which direction they were heading. Everyone is just basically following this map that says there's sanctuary at Terminus. Remember the radio signal that Daryl and company heard when they were in the car getting supplies during the flu outbreak. What if it's the same signal that was coming from Atlanta in season one telling people there was safety there and it's just stuck on a loop? How about the compass that Sasha has that's broken? A perfect indicator that tells the audience they have no idea where they're headed. And what kind of "road" is everyone using to get to Terminus? Railroad tracks, that's what. It's not a perfect theory but it would be such a kick in the teeth for a season finale. If this theory is completely wrong, one thing has to be clear and that is that Terminus is not going to be the safe haven they think it is and will be the home of Joe and his crew. If this theory is true, people are going to rage if the last scene of the episode is all of the survivors ending up basically where season one ended. But you have to remember that this show isn't exactly about creating feelings of hope. It will be a perfect way to end the season, get everyone back together and start season five with everyone heading north to DC. One absolute guarantee is that the journey north is the direction the show has to take for everything else to unfold. And I can't wait!
