The Walking Dead: 10 Theories About How Season 4 Will End
3. Carol Will Die
After the powerful dramatic gut-punches doled out in "The Grove", fans have really seen the character of Carol come a long way from the beginning of this show. She started out as forgettable B-level character with very little purpose and even fewer lines. She was exceptionally annoying during the whole Sophia disappearing debacle, and even worse once Sophia was gone. Yet since then, the character has evolved into one of the most interesting on the show. We even care about her and what happens now - Something no one could have said until this season. If you look at the show from strictly a story perspective, it's easy to assume that Carol has come full circle. She's evolved, matured, and has completed a full character arc. After "The Grove", Carol not only made some difficult choices, she also cleared her soul by confessing to Tyreese that she was the one responsible for killing Karen. As a result of her confession, Carol even got Tyreese's forgiveness, albeit after a heartbreaking, gun-clenchingly tense showdown at the kitchen table. I could be completely wrong in choosing Carol as the next one to go out as there are a number of others that could also "bite" it by the end (Bob and Sasha are other possible contenders). Losing Carol now would be difficult, as she's someone that the show has finally made us care about. We'd feel her loss a lot more than if she'd died a few seasons ago but much like Herschel, her story is complete and it could be time for her to go. Because frankly, there's only so many daughters surrogate or otherwise she can lose before she begins to retread old ground and use up the fandom's goodwill. See the Governor 2.0 for a reference on this.
