The Walking Dead: 6 Things "Crossed" Got Right (And 4 It Didn't)

5. Rick Has A Plan

Has any character in modern television changed more than Rick Grimes? Well, Walter White probably, but that wasn't a change for the better, that was a transformation into a monster. Or possibly just an uncovering of something that was always there. Maybe that was a similar case with Rick, who was just waiting to have the shackles of structure the police department through on him removed so he could get some actual work done. Or maybe he's just a naturally mopey bugger and that's why he never got anything done in the first three seasons or so. Regardless of how or when it happened, the Rick Grimes we have now is one badass mofo, and seeing him plan out the hospital assault was spine-tingling. That's why viewers dig heist films so much. It's sort of satisfying to see a plan be drawn out and then executed, even if it isn't entirely successful (and given the cliffhanger ending to Crossed, it doesn't look like it will be). Still, there's something invigorating about the confidence the group has been building up throughout this season, after spending the first four being pinballed around the post-apocalypse. They're now active rather than reactive characters, which makes the show more engaging and fun to watch. Plus you just know the finale is going to be totally action-packed and have at least five fist pumping into the air moments.
