The Walking Dead Season 4: Ranking The First 8 Episodes

4. Infected (Episode 2)

12 The season opener informed us of where the gang where at by this point in their histories. This episode did well in that it successfully built upon that, taking off from a strong cliffhanger left by episode 1. Add to that a strong plot, some good gore and a decent death count, here we have all the makings of a good episode of The Walking Dead. We see some actual development from supporting characters too, such as the fact that a completely new character, Dr. Caleb Subramanian, actually holds a respectful position in the prison, and has some say in regards to how things will work. This is good, as all versions of The Walking Dead suffer from the fact that there's not enough rotation in cast members (the comics do this best, especially now there are different colonies with different leaders, such as Gregory, Ezekiel and Negan all leading their groups with or against Rick). Unfortunately this episode sees the loss of Karen, which is a shame especially because she had the background of such a strong character, i.e. the survivor of the Woodbury massacre and love interest for Tyreese, who show some truly great chemistry in the beginning of this episode. Also, never have I felt so heartbroken over the loss of a piglet. That's pretty much all you need to place this at the number 4 spot. That'll do pig, that'll do (too easy?).
