The Walking Dead Season 5: 10 Things That Need To Happen
2. A Bloody Finale
Looking further ahead than just what the premiere or the bulk of the season has to offer, one thing The Walking Dead has been consistently good at is providing some satisfying finales. And"satisfying" of course means "gore-filled". The show might not have the budget to splash out on significant character and zombie deaths every episode, but when they splurge on those final episodes, they really splurge. The finales always do a good job at setting up a cliffhanger ending to get viewers coming back, but what they do even better is let off all the simmering tension that's been building over the course of sixteen episodes, and just let it rip. The first time around saw the destruction of the CDC, and the fiery deaths of all the walkers that had been piling onto it; the second saw a herd of walkers descending upon Hershel's farm, seeing the survivors desperately fighting them off after having slaughtered the bunch of undead that had been kept in the barn; the third was more emotionally devastating; and the fourth set up the new season nicely with a big sniper battle. The ante has been upped, both with the stakes and the violence, with each passing finale, which is hopefully a trend that will be kept with the ending of season five. Best of all would be an ending that combines all the best parts of the finale so far, with both dramatic gravitas and a bunch of thrilling action to really get us all pumped for season six.
