Watchmen TV Show - 10 Theories From The New Teaser
8. The Political Angle
The momentary glimpse of a man in a general suit brings up some particularly interesting theories about the show itself, as it suggests strongly that, despite almost every war initially ending in 1985 after the 'alien invasion', war has broken out yet again - hence the continuing existence of generals. This draws quite nicely into the themes of conflict with the government that appear to reoccur often within the trailer alone.
With Lindelof describing the initial Watchmen as showing the goverment as a 'Feudal Lord' who the main characters are 'serfs' working for, it's clear that his perspective on the later events in this universe will also have a political component about them.
With the Rorschach cult being an undeniable symbol of more fascist views - due to the original's staunch dislike for any liberal leanings - it is unclear if this conflict will contain a side we're supposed to support, as the trailer makes both sides seem intimidating and ominous.
What is for sure, though, is that the plot is going to be a whole lot more politically-motivated than anyone would initially have thought at all.
