While Weird City does update the dystopian story quite nicely, it also does much more than that. Sure, the visuals are vibrant and characters are, well, bizarre, but if you look close enough, you'll actually realise that all of this ridiculousness is merely a tool to highlight a much deeper message.

From the trailer, it's clear that those who live Above The Line are intolerant to anything that can't be figured out by a computer. The upper class is completely oblivious to the fact that tasks can still be done without the aid of technology and are disgusted to discover how the more independent people Below The Line live. With decadent parties, cheesy grins and six packs galore, Above The Line is intentionally designed to look like the perfect world. However, it's pretty obvious that this isn't the case.

The writers have utilised extremely off-the-wall humour and intentionally bad bodysuits in order to make the show a social commentary of sorts, exaggerating the current state of humanity, and our obsession with perfection. Whether its related to technology or beauty, the show has magnified some of this generation's greatest flaws, satirically attacking what we risk becoming if society continues to develop in this manner.

So, make no mistake about it, Weird City is not just another mindless comedy, because, below the humour there a lot of depth to it.
