Westworld: 9 Mysteries That Season 2 Must Resolve
8. How Was Clementine Functioning Again?
Speaking of poor Clementine: she was lobotomized, or so we thought. Then she shot William, old William, otherwise known as the Man in Black, in Westworld's first season finale.
So how exactly was she able to pick up a gun and lead a charge against the Delos board?
This isn't a mystery that will make or break the show, but it will be something that diehard fans nitpick to death if it's left unexplained. Ergo, early on in season two, the writers need to address this. After all, Maeve had pretty much kissed her partner in crime goodbye. She was, as far as anyone could tell, essentially a vegetable.
Then suddenly she's front and center in the big gunfight. On the surface, it makes no sense. Could Maeve's increased access to the systems controlling Westworld's hosts be the key? If it's a software solution, then why was a physical procedure used on Clementine in the first place? She took a drill to the brain - that seems like something that requires more than an upgrade, or a few features unlocked.
