Westworld Premiere: 8 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Original'

6. It Looks Great

From the opening it becomes clear that this show is going to look impressive, and it doesn't take long to truly cement that fact. The park looks absolutely gorgeous, full of vast Western landscapes and stunning vistas, of which we get plenty of shots almost as if to show off just how good it looks.

The wide-open, as-far-as-the-eye-can-see surroundings have been perfectly captured, and help give the park a mammoth sense of scale - it really is like being out there in the wild west. It neatly marries this with the small town feel of Sweetwater, the central location of Westworld, which again feels directly lifted from the best Western movies you've seen and given a spit-polish, from the brothels to saloons to the train pulling into the station.

Providing an interesting juxtaposition to this is the HQ of Delos (the company behind Westword), which is a series of starkly clean labs that have a very distinct sci-fi aesthetic, a nice counterpoint to the Western settings of the theme park - and another example of how well this show balances both genres.
