Westworld Season 2: 10 Biggest Twists, Theories & Questions From 'Journey Into Night'
9. How Many Timelines Is The Show Operating On?
The show's use of different timelines was key to its story (and confusing its viewers) in Season 1, and while most of the cards are now on the table insofar as we know these timelines exist, this episode still doesn't make it completely explicit what's happening when.
Most of the scenes appear to follow on organically from the season finale, with the stories of Dolores, Maeve, and the Man in Black all picking up in its immediate aftermath or thereabouts.
It's with Bernard that things get a little trickier, however: the opening would appear to be him as Arnold, in the past with Dolores, some thirty-plus-years ago; the scenes with him and Charlotte are in the aftermath of the massacre, much like the other plotlines; and then the scene with him and the Delos security finding the sea and the bodies is 11 days in the future.
So that's at least three, but there's also the chance the other stories are on slightly different timescales, along with a number of harder to place quick shots we get courtesy of Bernard's memories(?). On top of that, we've still got to add in young William and who knows what else.
