Westworld Season 2 Premiere: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Journey Into Night'

1. The Typical Season Premiere Feel

Okay, so not typical for Westworld yet (because its only other one was a pilot, and that was astonishingly good), but this season premiere feels very much like those of the show Westworld is billed as the successor to: Game of Thrones.

The opening episodes of those seasons are never the best, and so too is the case here. Instead, it's used to move around from character to character, visiting different locations and plot points almost like it just needs to check in on them, and simply recapping a little bit of what's gone before and then starting to set the table for the season to come. It's not bad, per se, but just feels like it's working to a formula and a checklist.
