In Way's source material, The Conductor is the villain of the piece, and has a more typically comic book villain look, with a General Grievous-like mask and ostentatious orchestral outfit. He leads The Orchestra Verdammten, a masked collection of murderous musicians, whose domino masks look like those worn by the Academy themselves.

In The Show

Though largely replaced in narrative function by Leonard - who leads Vanya to her destructive powers in The Conductor's place - a version of the conductor exists, as played by Cool Runnings actor Peter Outerbridge, He's not so much a villain as a bit of a douche.
