It's about TIME we got some big news about the Loki Disney + series.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the 2021 show will introduce legendary comic book baddie Kang the Conqueror.

After a brief tease of Loki (the show, not the man/God) during a Disney Plus Super Bowl TV spot, eagle eyed fans were able to spot the former Avengers villain wearing a shirt with the letters "TVA" on it.

In the comics "TVA" stands for "Time Variance Authority," a bureaucratic organization formed to keep tabs on time travellers and other multiverse anomalies, taking care of any potential threats. It seems that Loki, last seen creating an alternate timeline with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, is one of those potential threats, appearing in the Super Bowl TV spot handcuffed.

The comic book version of the TVA have clashed with Kang the Conqueror several times. Kang, aka Nathaniel Richards, is a 30th century descendent of Reed Richards, better known as Mr. Fantastic. Having conquered his entire timeline, Kang would travel back in time to take over modern day Earth, only to be foiled by the Avengers, Fantastic Four, or whatever superheroes Marvel pitted him against.

Kang is one of few Marvel villains who could potentially match the stakes set by Thanos. While Thanos explored all of space in his quest for the Infinity Stones, Kang can explore all of time. With his 31st technology, genius intellect, and need for conquest, he could fill the Titan sized shoes Thanos left behind, and pitting him against Loki and the TVA is a good way of easing him into the rest of the MCU. After all, Loki himself was once the MCU's "big bad," back when he took on the original Avengers team in their first film.

Marvel's Loki will release sometime in 2021 on Disney +, and will star Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, and Owen Wilson, who is rumored to be playing TVA leader Justice Peace.
