William Shatner's Top 5 Parodies Of Himself

2. Have I Got News For You

Despite all his acting appearances, be it sketch show or sit-com, live action or animated, Shatner's humour often comes out best when actually being himself. There is obviously a difference between Shatner in front of the camera and away from it, and many of his funniest moments have come from him merely living up to his over the top acting style and being his actual parodying self, rather than merely playing a caricature version in farcical scenarios (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I'm looking at you).

On Lopez Tonight he covered Cee Lo Green's F*ck You as only he could, but his this was still nothing compared to his spot presenting this long running British current affairs/political satire. Perhaps only Brian Blessed rivals him as the best ever guest, presenter or otherwise, in it's near 25 year history. Having a veteran international superstar make jokes at the expense of Ilfracombe is always going to be funny, but Shatner has the audience, as well as the other celebrities, in stitches through sheer pronunciation alone. Even if former Mayor Paul Crabb didn't take his ad-lib quip about the quiet seaside town being "laced with prostitution" with the humour it was intended, Shatner used his status to tell the jokes that everyone wants to, but only an outrageous personality could get away with. As larger than life, and as outrageous as the actual (albeit playing up to the camera) Shatner is however, there is still one more performance that reflects on who William Shatner really is...
