Win Downton Abbey Season 6 On Blu-ray

Phyllis Logan

Scottish actress Phyllis Logan won the BAFTA Award for the Most Outstanding Newcomer to Film in 1984 courtesy of Another Time, Another Place. She is perhaps best known for playing Lady Jane Felsham in nearly 50 episodes of TV comedy-drama Lovejoy. She also featured in the Mike Leigh film Secrets & Lies and director Michael Radford€™s film version of Nineteen Eighty-Four. In Downton Abbey she plays Mrs Hughes, the housekeeper€ Q: What do you recall of your last day of shooting the series? A: My last day was very emotional. I thought that I was going to keep myself under control but I failed. I lasted through the actual scene. But when some of the crew were sobbing into my neck, I wept then as well Q: How did you enjoy the kiss with Carson (Jim Carter)? The audience has rooted for that€ A: I know. It was a very slow burn. It is so sweet when people say, €˜Oh, my God, we just screamed and cheered.€™ It is lovely. It was quite nice. It was a shock, actually. We weren€™t fully expecting it. We thought there might be more of a preparation towards it but suddenly it was, €˜Okay, right, off you go!€™ It paid off on the end, I think. Q: How do you hope people will remember the show? A: I hope they will keep buying the DVD box sets. Let€™s hope! Q: Did you enjoy the big dramatic moments most of all, or the light-hearted and funscenes? A: Each had their own things to recommend them. I would say I enjoyed playing both. It is nice to get a bit of humour out there but also it is lovely when you have a more delicate or sensitive scene to play, where you try to get the best out of it. You do the best that you can for each scene. That is the great thing about Julian . He would give you one on one day and then you get the other the next day. He really does mix it up but not in a convoluted way. It is absolutely true to the story and true to the character. I love that. Q: Are you happy with the way your character is at the end? A: I don€™t think that anybody€™s are disappointing. They are different and they€™re challenging, maybe, but it is a good resolution. Q: Did you get ever get any input into the character€™s lines? A: No, not at all. We call him Julian Shakespeare. You don€™t mess with his lines! DOWNTON ABBEY SERIES 6 is released on Blu-RayTM and DVD from 16 November 2015 from Universal Pictures (UK).
