X-Men '97: 10 New Villains We Want To See
1. Onslaught
When X-Men ’97 inevitably comes to a close, the Children of the Atom will be expected to face some great evil. Although Apocalypse was the overarching enemy of the original series, the revival should have a new face serve as the big bad.
For the final showdown, it would be epic to see the our mutant heroes face one of their most iconic foes, Onslaught. Not only is he staggeringly powerful, a confrontation with the X-Men would be deeply moving because of Onslaught's identity.
You see, Onslaught... is Charles Xavier! Xavier was so scared about misusing his telepathic powers if he lost control of his emotions, he buried every negative thought he had into a deep corner of his mind.
But after decades of festering, these dark thoughts grew until Xavier was unable to compartmentalise them any further. After they wrestled control over Xavier, he transmogrified into a being composed of pure psionic force called Onslaught. Because he is the antithesis of everything Xavier loved, Onslaught immediately prepared to destroy every ideal he and his students held sacred.
When the X-Men successfully separated Xavier from his own creation, they assumed Onslaught would die. But because Onslaught was no longer shackled by Xavier’s conscience, he grew in strength and power.
Not only would this be an awesome adversary to serve as the show’s final foe, it could be a nice excuse to incorporate every iconic Marvel superhero, since Onslaught would be too strong for the X-Men to face alone. How amazing would it be to see Wolverine, Captain America, Cyclops, the Fantastic Four, and Jean Grey joining forces to destroy the ultimate evil?
If this villain incorporated into X-Men '97, it would be a dream come true for many diehard comic fans.
