YOU Season 2: 10 Things That Must Happen

Will Joe's crimes finally catch up with him?

Lifetime’s YOU has been a buzzy hit ever since it dropped on Netflix last year. Based on the book by Caroline Kepnes, it tells the story of Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager who sets out to date aspiring writer Guinevere Beck.

Throughout Season 1, Joe manipulates, stalks, and berates Beck. He invades her privacy, kills her friends for his own convenience and keeps other secrets from her. Whilst seemingly charming on the outside, Joe has got a very dark and twisted soul.

Beck eventually finds out what he’s capable of and she ends up trapped inside the book vault in the store’s basement. Let’s just say that things don’t end too well for her. Then, in the last scene of Season 1, we’re introduced to a character we presumed to be dead – Joe’s ex-girlfriend Candace.

YOU has been confirmed for a Season 2, which will be roughly based on Kepnes’ follow-up novel Hidden Bodies. Judging from the book and how Season 1 ended, here are some things we must see in Season 2.

Contains spoilers for YOU Season 1 and Hidden Bodies.

10. We Find Out What Happened Between Joe And Candace

At the end of Season 1, Joe’s ex-girlfriend Candace makes an appearance in his bookstore. This is a huge plot twist as we’re led to believe she’s dead in the series, and in the book she actually is dead (Joe drowned her).

In Season 2, we need to find out exactly what happened between her and Joe – including both past and present. We know that they broke up, but why did she leave the country and change her name? And why is she back?

In Hidden Bodies, it’s actually Amy who appears in his bookstore. Amy is his ex-girlfriend after Beck and it’s her who Joe follows to Los Angeles. He sets out to find and kill her after she cons him and breaks his heart.

It seems that TV Candace may be a combination of Book Candace and Book Amy, so it’s possible that TV Candace will also fall into some of Amy’s storylines.
