Those old enough to remember the Melissa Joan Hart version of the series got quite the shock when Netflix brought the show back with a very new spin.
Gone were the '90s effects and sitcom-esq camera angles, and suddenly it felt like a series that was always meant to be dark, frightening, and surprisingly sexualised. Though the powers that be at Netflix have recently brought an end to the show after two seasons, the new iteration of the show will undoubtedly become the one most remembered.
It had a dedicated and great cast, led by Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, and Lucy Davis. As well as some brilliant effects work and a heartfelt story.
It may not have been to everybody's liking but the show was resolutely itself, not pandering or changing its style to gain a larger audience. Though its following may not have been enough to save it, when watched back, nobody could say it didn't choose a direction and stick to it.
