After a brief hiatus due to the holidays, the UFC are back with more mixed martial arts action. Usually the promotion like to spread cards out over a month, but they're hitting MMA fans with three ridiculously good events in the space of seven days. From the 16 - 23 January 2021, some of the best - and most notorious - fighters will grace the Octagon in a week of pure violence.

We start the year with former UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, taking on rising contender, Calvin Kattar. The second event of the week features welterweight contenders, Michael Chiesa and Neil Magny, in a thrilling main event that could move either man into the division's top five.

Lastly, we've got a giant rematch at UFC 257 between the legendary former two division UFC champion, Conor McGregor and former interim UFC 155lb champion, Dustin Poirier, in a fight that could have serious implications for the weight class.

However, those aren't the only amazing fights happening this month. There's an abundance of magnificent match-ups that all deserved to be highlighted, so we've picked out the fights that you simply cannot miss. Let's begin...

15. Omari Akmedhov Vs. Tom Breese - UFC Fight Island 8

British middleweight, Tom Breese, has long been touted as someone with the potential to be a future UFC champion. The Birmingham born 185lber has all the skills needed to be a top level fighter, but hasn't quite reached the dizzying heights many thought he would just yet.

While he made his name at 170lb, a move up to middleweight has provided some positive returns as Breese has gone 2-1 since making the change. His last outing against KB Bhullar was good enough to earn him a Performance of the Night bonus, after he dropping the Canadian with a stiff jab. Now the 29-year old faces a serious step-up in competion at UFC Fight Island 8, when he takes on Omari Akhmedov.

With 12 out of 20 knockout or submission wins, Akhmedov would seem like a decent fight-finisher. However, most of those finishes came outside of the UFC, with only one happening inside the Octagon. From what we've seen, the 33-year old Russian is far more comfortable with keeping position than going for the kill.

Considering Breese is known for being a fight-finisher, this should be a very interesting match-up between two opposing styles.
