7 UFC Fighters Who Committed Horrific Crimes

Despite the fact that mixed martial artists try to incapacitate other human beings for a living, for the most part, they tend to be law-abiding citizens. Truth be told, many of these athletes are involved with charitable organizations, and they are oftentimes pillars of their respective communities, who use their celebrity status to do some wonderful things.

That being said, as in all walks of life, there are a few bad apples.

Over the years, we have seen several former UFC fighters wind up in a very different kind of cage — a jail cell. In truth, sadly, there are fighters on this list who gained more notoriety due to the crimes they committed than they did from competing inside the Octagon.

To be clear, we aren't talking about unpaid parking tickets or other relatively harmless misdemeanors, either. The fighters we're about to discuss have done some very bad things.

With that in mind, it's time to take a look at ten former UFC competitors who wound up on the wrong side of the law, and in many cases, suffered severe consequences for doing so.

Josh 'The Fluke' Grispi was a featherweight fighter who competed in the UFC for about two years, from 2011 to 2013. Over the course of his career, Grispi shared the cage with former champs like Jens Pulver and Dustin Poirier.

After suffering four consecutive losses during his time with the promotion, 'The Fluke' was released. Not long after, in the summer of 2014, he would go on to face some major legal issues.

The former WEC standout has been arrested multiple times for everything from improperly storing a firearm near a minor to domestic assault and battery.

Grispi had reportedly trained his pit bull terrier (Buddy) to be an attack dog. He then sent the animal after his (now ex) wife Kaitlyn, having just finished physically assaulting her himself. Kaitlyn suffered several wounds, including a series of bite marks on her leg. To make matters worse, in order to stop Buddy's assaults, Josh Grispi would sometimes resort to choking the dog unconscious.

While investigating the incident, authorities also found marijuana plants and cocaine at Grispi's home.

In June 2017, the ex-UFC fighter was convicted on several charges and received a 5 1/2 year prison sentence.
