10 Doctor Who Deleted Scenes You Need To See

4. The Flood Speaks!

Doctor Who Series 2 deleted scene

In the middle of his post-Donna solo travels, the Tenth Doctor turns up on Mars and is caught in the middle of a struggle behind human astronauts and a mysterious, waterborne parasite.

If a single drop of the stuff gets on you, then you're done for. Cue a very tense hour as the Doctor and his chums try to evade a horrible, soggy fate.

Once The Flood inhabits a human, the skin around their mouth dries up and cracks. There's also water constantly flowing from their mouth, which makes it rather hard for them to speak.

However, in one particular deleted scene, you can actually hear them talk (8:30 in the video below).

The Flood were originally going to have a scene - possibly multiple scenes - with dialogue, but they never made it to air. Russell T Davies believed that the aliens were more menacing without a voice, and you know what, he was right.

It's fascinating to see this slightly different approach to The Flood, but if they'd spoken throughout the entire episode? It would've diluted their effectiveness significantly.
