10 "Buried" Wrestlers Who Weren't Actually Buried

9. Lance Archer (AEW Double Or Nothing 2020)

Cody Rhodes Lance Archer not buried

Come on, nobody actually thinks Lance Archer was buried at AEW Double or Nothing, do they?! The Murderhawk Monster came into the company with plenty of momentum, he smashed everyone in his path, but he eventually fell to an inspired babyface looking to make history. It is a pro wrestling story as old as time.

Now, if Archer had been squashed in seconds and then disappeared forever, fans would have a point. After all, it would have been clear to see that his building momentum was purely for Cody's benefit, and the whole concept of a Murderhawk Monster would have been dead.

But that isn't what happened, is it? Cody survived Archer and somehow came out on top. Archer didn't disappear completely, quite the opposite. He kept on smashing fools, eventually smashing 20 on his way to winning a number one contender's battle royal at All Out. If he had lost that AEW Championship match against Jon Moxley, would that have been a burial too?

We'll have to wait to find out, as the global health crisis did what the global health crisis does and got in the way. When Archer returns he will pick up where he left off.
