10 "Major" Wrestling Promotions That Never Got Off The Ground

Jeff Jarrett may have been ousted from TNA, but he wasn't done promoting wrestling. In 2014, he announced Global Force Wrestling... and then nothing happened. For many months, Jarrett claimed to be in negotiations with other promotions, but without a TV deal, GFW wasn't getting off the ground.

Finally, in 2015, GFW held its first shows and TV tapings. Unfortunately, the whole thing seemed so much more small-scale than anticipated. GFW's talent agreements theoretically could have brought fans matches featuring Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Alberto El Patron, Zack Sabre Jr., and more, but instead, fans got stars who had washed out of TNA, like Magnus and Sonjay Dutt. An invasion angle with TNA got the group some extra publicity, but it didn't last long.

Though they had success in bringing NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 9 to U.S. PPV, that was about all they accomplished. Global Force Wrestling is currently still running shows, but they're mostly in conjunction with other leagues and you probably didn't know that until I told you.
