Despite the fact that TNA's popularity was decreasing in the early 2010s after a sustained attempt to really take the fight to WWE, the country's international TV deals meant that it still maintained a fan following in certain countries. One of those countries, India, became the site of a failed attempt at creating a new wrestling hotbed.

TNA put its support, money, and talent behind the creation of Ring Ka King, a company that would also be filmed on a seasonal schedule. The first group of 26 episodes was taped in December of 2011 and January of 2012 and featured select native talent like Mahabali Veera (now Mahabali Shera in TNA), but mostly American luminaries like Dr. Nicholas Dinsmore and inaugural champion Matt Morgan. In fact, unsurprisingly, the league was mostly made up of U.S. indy workers nobody in India would have had any reason to know, as well as TNA wrestlers TNA didn't want at the moment.

The season aired from January to April of 2011, and TNA immediately said that they didn't think there would be a second one. For once, they were right.
