By the mid-2000s, one would think it might've been obvious to WWE officials that recreating past legendary tag teams didn't bode well for the new members. After all, by the turn of the century, the company had already witnessed numerous "New" teams fail miserably including "LOD 2000", a group that consisted of Hawk, Animal, Sunny, and later Droz. But WWE just couldn't help themselves.

The Road Warriors, aka the Legion Of Doom, are almost universally considered the greatest tag team in the history of sports-entertainment. So of course, when Animal rejoined WWE in 2005, nearly two years after the passing of his original partner Mike 'Hawk' Hegstrand, the company was at it again. This time, WWE inserted Heidenreich into Hawk's old role, forming a new version of the Legion Of Doom.

Heidenreich was given the full Road Warrior treatment - a mohawk, elaborate facepant, spiked shoulder pads, and even a tag team title - but it still couldn't get WWE's newest recreation over. Only months after forming this "New Legion Of Doom", WWE released Heidenreich and Animal soon followed after a brief singles run as 'The Road Warrior'.
