10 "New" Tag Teams That Failed Miserably In WWE
5. The New Razor Ramon & Diesel
When Scott Hall and Kevin Nash left the WWF for WCW in 1996, they were unable to take their respective personas of Razor Ramon and Diesel with them. Typically, WWE opted to leave the gimmicks of departing talents dormant, but in the desperate time of late '96, the company decided to re-use a couple for the first time ever.
Believing that fans were drawn more to the character than the one portraying it, Vince McMahon plugged new talents into the roles of Razor Ramon and Diesel. Rick Bognar was chosen as 'The Bad Guy' and Glen Jacobs, formerly Isaac Yankem, D.D.S., became 'Big Daddy Cool'. Despite an initial buzz surrounding the promised returns of Razor Ramon and Diesel to the WWF, fans were obviously disappointed when Bognar and Jacobs were revealed instead of Hall and Nash.
Despite an association with future Hall Of Famer Jim Ross, Razor was quickly dulled and Diesel ran out of gas immediately. Although they enjoyed a few pay-per-view appearances, the New Generation ripoffs disappeared shortly after the 1997 Royal Rumble and "Fake Razor" and "Fake Diesel" went down as two of the greatest failures in company history.
