10 Absolute Worst Gimmicks In Wrestling Today

7. Shorty G

Shorty G and articles about misused talent, bad gimmicks and WWE not having a clue what it is doing; name a more iconic combination, I'll wait.

That might not be how the meme works, but how in the blue hell is Chad Gable still floundering in WWE purgatory as Shorty G? The joke wasn't funny from inception, and it certainly isn't funny more than a year later. Gable is an Olympian, a legitimate wrestling genius with charisma for days, yet he's stuck doing job duty in a gimmick that is beneath him. It is a gimmick that should be beneath any and all professional wrestlers.

Shorty G is the sort of gimmick one gets as a punishment, but there doesn't seem to be a legitimate reason as to why Gable might get the harsh treatment. Was he too good at suplexing people? As long as he is saddled with this horrific gimmick, Chad Gable will continue to be the most misused talent on the entire WWE roster.

Oh, to go back to those days when American Alpha seemed set to revolutionise tag team wrestling in WWE.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
