10 Absolute Worst Gimmicks In Wrestling Today

5. Akira Tozawa

Akira Tozawa is currently portraying a ninja who may or may not have been eaten by a shark on a recent episode of WWE RAW. That is surely all that you need to know?

WWE's talent-heavy roster has led to some seriously impressive professional wrestlers getting saddled with nonsense gimmicks in the hope of consistent television appearances, which is the only plausible explanation as to why the ultra-talented Akira Tozawa has been randomly portraying a ninja for the last few months.

A former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Akira Tozawa deserves more than his current lot, although that should be true of almost everyone that has ever been eaten by a shark. The comedy role may be the easiest ticket in pro wrestling but Tozawa is better than his current spot.

More importantly, the ninja gimmick is death, a character from a different time that made little sense in its own heydey. It is far too open to humiliation and jokes of questionable origin, far too easy to ridicule and far too easy to book in a cruelly offensive manner.

Ninjas! Come on WWE, you're better than that.
