Bray Wyatt defeated Finn Bálor on the July 14, 2017 RAW. This followed some trademark mind games from the Eater of Worlds, to which Finn responded "I gotta be honest: he gives me the creeps" with less conviction than his dead-inside smile. That should have been that, if you were Wyatt; having recovered from his WWE Heavyweight Title loss by winning a series with Seth Rollins, Wyatt was back on the up and up - but since WWE is a race to the middle of the road, he just decided to feud with Bálor still.

But how to prolong that feud?

"How about they just wrestle another match, but this time, Bálor wins?"

"Clearly, we're going to do that. And then Bálor wins again. And then they have another match, only with Wyatt in drag even though Randy killed Sister Abigail a few months ago, but nobody will remember that. But we need something for the vignette."

That something was Wyatt dousing Bálor with a "viscous liquid", probably surplus JR's BBQ sauce from WWEShop.com. WWE would not allow themselves to say "blood", but did allow Brock Lesnar to funnel it out of Roman Reigns' head less than a year later. We were meant to receive this as a terrifying supernatural trick, when in reality, this was as mundane as the character. Anybody could have done that. He didn't summon it from the ceiling. That would have looked cool; instead, he just slopped him with a bucket.

The horror!
