10 Absolute Wrestling FREAKS! ?

1. "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard

A throwback in all the perfect ways, Matt Mernard radiates freak-like fury from his widened eyes before he's even started screaming his head off spouting the good word of the former Jericho Appreciation Society or whatever cause he's fighting that week.

A total pop merchant even within the comparatively tight restrictions of the old NXT system, Mernard was never not chasing the opportunity to flex his brand of furious-meets-funny in any situation. "Cool Hand Ang" Angelo Parker almost matches his energy, and from being Kevin Owens' favourite act as Ever-Rise to becoming Chris Jericho's as 2point0, the pair are unmissable even if their storylines aren't.

In 2023, "Daddy Magic" looks the best placed to make something of the inauspicious ending of the Sports Entertainment stable, particularly if his efforts as a commentator and presenter are anything to go by - when he's not trying to make the unflappable Renee Paquette corpse, he's popping weathered industry icon Paul Wight. Every part of pro wrestling is still, thankfully, for the freaks.
