It definitely felt as though Drew McIntyre was riding on the crest of a wrestling wave heading into the 2020 Royal Rumble. And The Scottish Warrior looked like an obvious favourite before a person was dumped over the top-rope.

But then WWE Champion Brock Lesnar kicked off an absolutely unrivalled spell of dominance in the titular contest, leading to a record-tying 13 eliminations. And with Vince McMahon clearly having an eternal soft spot for the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, there was always a chance Lesnar could very much go bell-to-bell and eliminate absolutely every soul involved.

The arrival of Ricochet at the halfway point didn't exactly suggest an end to Brock's run of terror either. Yet, the high-flying sensation was able to stay alive in the match long enough for Irn Dru to enter into the equation. And it was that unexpected combo that ultimately cemented McIntyre as WWE's latest potential face of the company.

After Ricochet smashed Lesnar's b*lls into oblivion, Drew connected with the sweetest of all Claymores. And it was in this moment that he simultaneously broke Brock's Rumble streak and announced himself as the new "Him" heading into the darkest of times.
