An underrated Raw main event occurred from Shawn Michaels' home town of San Antonio in December of 2003 as he wrestled World Heavyweight Champion Triple H in 25 odd minutes of top-notch action. Whilst Raw of 2003 was scarred by several awful main event feuds between Triple H and the likes of Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Goldberg, it finished on a high with this classic pure-bred wrestling encounter. At the close of the bout, then-GM Eric Bischoff took over the referee duties after the original official was taken out, leading everyone watching in the arena to assume Shawn was about to get screwed. Their elation when Bischoff counted the straight 1-2-3 and seemingly awarded Shawn the World title therefore was profound, as Jim Ross made one of his classic, euphoric calls. Of course, it was never going to be that simple. It was revealed that Bischoff had counted both men's shoulders down, resulting in a draw and Hunter retaining the World title and the fans elation was quickly extinguished into despair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF8XYHOA7fI It capped off a roller coaster main event of action and emotion and set WWE Raw back on the right path.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
