10 AEW And NJPW Dream Crossover Matches
5. Orange Cassidy Vs. Toru Yano
The depth of wrestling allows us to cheer, boo, shout with excitement and, when it’s at its best, make us laugh. After all, wrestling is inherently ridiculous and as such we need to celebrate it at its most silly. Enter characters such as Orange Cassidy who, in his tenure in AEW, has won over many unbelievers with his gimmick of the lazy slacker who sometimes actually bothers to take his hands out of his pockets to fight (when he feels like it anyway.)
New Japan have meanwhile had one of the most successful comedic wrestlers to ever put on tights under their umbrella for over twenty years. Even today, Toru Yano finds new ways to make fans laugh and to squeak out an unfair win. Yano’s penchant for bribery and out-of-the-box thinking may actually bring a new side out of Orange Cassidy that we’ve never seen before and more than anything it’ll be interesting to see Yano go up against a combatant who seems to want to fight even less than he does.
There’s no way you let an opportunity like this pass by without injecting even more flavour in the form of the very nice but also very evil Danhausen. Just imagine Yano’s attempts at cheating falling flat at the hands of a Danhausen curse, allowing Orange to capitalise. It won’t be a technical masterpiece but it certainly would be memorable.
