10 AEW Dark Matches You Must See

5. Brandon Cutler Vs Peter Avalon (October 27th 2020)

A feud reserved exclusively for AEW Dark, the Brandon Cutler/Peter Avalon story found a surprisingly dramatic conclusion as both fought to avoid being bottom of the company's win/loss rankings.

What started as a gag became quite the rewarding celebration of how well All Elite Wrestling has booked during Dynamite's existence at the very least. Their double count-out finish on the September 10th edition of the show was the first of its kind in the company. Their double disqualification on October 7th the same. Thus, ostensibly silly match actually needed and warranted the "must be a winner" magnitude of this finale.

Charmingly, everybody other than the two wrestlers seemed relatively sick of the feud. Justin Roberts introduced both men with a knowing frustration, while commentators Excalibur and Taz undermined the severity of the rivalry until the match itself gave them no choice but to respect it. The pair used tables and trash cans before introducing hardback books and dice (in keeping with the librarian and board gaming aficionado respectively), Leva Bates abandoned Avalon for good and The Young Bucks arrived on the scene as promised in Being The Elite skits to support their friend Cutler.

Neither advanced in the aftermath, but this was a fun attempt on behalf of both.
