10 AEW Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

Kris Statlander's is not a supernatural gimmick. She doesn't bend reality to extent that it's impossible to buy into her existing within AEW's world with its broadly sport-centric ruleset, nor does she do anything that shatters the suspension of disbelief. There are no little green men, UFOs, or special powers. Nose boops, face paint, a nickname, and a few cosmically-themed moves are the extent of the gimmick.

But that doesn't mean she shouldn't switch it up.

The 'Galaxy's Greatest Alien' has taken one of the best wrestlers in AEW's women's division as far as it can. Statlander has relied on boops and other idiosyncracies for too long. If she's to become a standard-bearer, she must develop discernable personality traits and tricks, building a new character to match her tremendous in-ring skills.

Last week's episode of Dynamite hinted at a change, with Kris captured face-to-face with recent failings, wiping her paint away. This was followed by her showing up in all-black attire for Rampage two days later. A step in the right direction, whatever her new persona becomes.
