7. Shawn Michaels Knows His Gear

Shawn Michaels was an expert with gear.

Pause.

For all the criticism pelted at WWE in the 2000s - and rightly so, what with them killing the WCW dream and replacing it with an endless cookie cutter developmental nightmare - they, more often than not, got the big stories with the big stars right.

The Shawn Michaels Vs. Undertaker programme was exceptional. Michaels didn't just come close to defeating 'Taker in that unforgettable classic at WrestleMania 25: he humanised 'Taker in a way nobody else had. This was inspired, pivotal. The story of the match convinced Michaels that he was the one to finally break the Streak, and, in a great continuing story, he grew obsessed with the thought over the next 12 months.

Across Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, Shawn eliminated his friends, sold madness when he himself was eliminated, and screwed the Undertaker out of the World Heavyweight championship - just so that he could get the chance. Of course, he put his career on the line in one last bid to make it happen.

At the 2010 Rumble, and he never did it elsewhere, he wore the exact same tights he had at 'Mania 25. This callback conveyed the idea that he was so obsessed with 'Taker that he had become irrational to the point of superstition.
