We have reason to believe that WWE were looking to capitalise at SummerSlam this year, with the idea that Batista would be a babyface champion against Lesnar a killer heel. That would have played well alongside Batista's burgeoning profile with The Guardians Of The Galaxy movie release. WWE went as far to foreshadow the feud this past February, shooting a segment with The Animal and The Beast in the ring staring off over the WWE title. All those plans died a death when WWE had to turn Batista heel due to vicious fan reactions. It's now off the table, but the plans could easily be put back on the agenda in 2015. A Batista vs Lesnar marquee is the kind of headline you expect at a WrestleMania or SummerSlam. The two giants clashing in a no DQ brawl sounds an exciting idea for WWE to go with.
