When it could happen - WrestleMania 31 Why we can't wait - WWF Icon vs WCW Icon, the sense of nostalgia will be riveting Sting against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 has been rumoured for some time now, with even wwe.com teasing the matchup with a 'fantasy warfare' feature earlier this year. We know that Sting is currently locked in negotiations with WWE over a contract, with the outcome of him signing described as 'inevitable' at this stage. The man himself had previously stated that if he did come to WWE it would be for a match with The Undertaker. Insider newsletters then backed this idea up, reporting in the spring that WWE were thinking of booking Undertaker vs Sting at WrestleMania 31 if any deal got made. That plan has now been thrown into doubt, with Undertaker so physically fragile that WWE booked him to lose to Brock Lesnar at Mania 30 in fear he might never be able to compete again. Worst still, Undertaker got further injured in that match. And yet the door for Sting does still remain open, with no official Undertaker retirement announced. He is telling people that he feels he probably won't work again, but he isn't ruling it out. If the dream match does happen it will be one of the most historic occasions ever. Not necessarily a mat classic, but certainly a spectacle for the generations.
