10 Atrocious WWE Matches That Were Unintentionally Funny
9. The Gimmick Battle Royal
When people talk about Wrestlemania 17, it's usually in the context of being the greatest WWE PPV of all time, which you'd be hard-pressed to argue. Therefore, the Gimmick Battle Royal often tends to get omitted from such discussions! Whilst officially running only a shade over three minutes, the segment itself went more like ten with the majority of that taken up by the entrances of all 19 combatants, in addition to guest commentators Mean Gene Okerlund and Bobby The Brain Heenan. Presenting a mixture of genuinely successful ex-stars such as Sgt. Slaughter and The Iron Sheik with a showcase of some of WWE's worst gimmicks of the cartoon era of the late 80s, this match was so sloppy the old-timers weren't so much thrown out of the ring, rather they fell out. Considering the presence of Tugboat, Earthquake and Kamala, a run-in from the Big Show was all that was missing to turn this bout into a tribute to the Dungeon of Doom! Factor in dust bin men, Goons, Jim Cornette and the Gobbledy f'kin Gooker and you have a cauldron of slapstick s*** that could only have been brewed by Vince McMahon.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
