10 Awesome AEW Booking Moments Nobody Ever Talks About

6. The Rise Of Scorpio Sky

Some things just don't click. The booking might be great, the act popular. But for reasons that can't really be articulated, it never leads to the groundswell of support that elevates the act to prominence.

That explains why Scorpio Sky's early push doesn't resonate now. He's very talented and boasts considerable range. It could still happen. Given the strength of the booking, if it doesn't, he might merely be a very good and very over tag team wrestler, in which there's no shame.

Chris Jericho cut a seminal meme-generator of a promo after All Out 2019. Toasting his own success with himself, it was perfect self-centred heel work. It blessed us with "A little bit of the bubbly," but in another under-appreciated bit, he claimed there were "little guys" inside of the olives.

Before he popped the cork and indeed all of us, Jericho walked through the back and told everybody in sight that he'd never defend it against them - including, conspicuously, Scorpio Sky.

When Sky was revealed as an early TV challenger - in an audacious booking step, he defeated Jericho in his specialist tag team domain after Jericho's hubris convinced him to walk into it - it built faith in the process and the intricate execution of it.
