10 Awesome Wrestling Matches That Saved Careers
6. Ric Flair Vs. The Undertaker (WrestleMania X8)
Ric Flair has been open about his struggles after WCW folded. The last few years of the company put a toll on his confidence in the ring, with one of the all time greats feeling like he'd lost his mojo. His first match in WWE with Vince McMahon was good - Flair didn't have many bad matches in his career - but you could feel his hesitance and doubt as the 15 minute match went on. The Ric Flair we love wasn't quite back yet.
But then he went through an absolutely bloody war with The Undertaker at WrestleMania X8, putting on one of the best bouts of the night as he bled and fought through hell to be the man to end the Streak. Flair might be most famous as a heel but he's an all time great babyface and evoked sympathy from everyone as he struggled against the younger, bigger and crueler Undertaker.
It proved to fans everywhere that Flair was still one of the best in the world and even with a loss, he felt like the biggest star in wrestling again. Without it, who knows if we'd get six more tremendous years of the Nature Boy in WWE?
