During numerous interviews with various podcasts and magazines, Goldust has remarked that both he and brother Cody Rhodes have pitched a feud between the family members for a number of years, but Vince McMahon hasn't always been too hot on the idea. Reports suggest that Goldust is coming close to the end of his full-time career in the ring for WWE, as the company look to make him a backstage producer for good. It's therefore nice to think that the blood brothers got their wish at Fast Lane, and met in a match. Sadly, the bout had a less than heavenly finish, as it appeared the referee messed up the ending - it's unclear whether or not Stardust was supposed to stay down for the count when Goldust rolled him up, but even though the ref's hand didn't come down for the three count, he still motioned for the bell to ring. Nonetheless, such mistakes weren't the doing of the Rhodes brothers, who were having a pretty decent match before the blooper. Hopefully, WWE give these guys a chance to lock up - perhaps for the last time - at Wrestlemania, but if not, at least they had their moment.
