The Intercontinental Title hasn't exactly been featured lately on WWE programming, and isn't nearly at the same level as the belt was throughout the 1980's and 90's. In truth, it hasn't been for years, and is largely a prop, rather than a valuable asset to the promotion. In any case, Bad News Barrett still trumpets his possession of the belt, and met Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Title at Fast Lane. The bout was going well, with fans appearing heavily interested in seeing Ambrose leave as champion, before another dodgy finish hampered things somewhat. Disqualified for refusing to back off Barrett at the referee's request, Ambrose decided he'd take the belt anyway, effectively stealing the Intercontinental strap. Before all of that, Bad News decided he'd had enough, and went to leave with his title. Strolling past the ring, Barrett was caught with a well-timed dive by Ambrose, which made for a good visual moment. Usually, a wrestler would simply run out and punch a departing rival, stopping them from leaving, but 'The Lunatic Fringe' showed some creativity here, and the match was better for it.
