10 Bad Habits WWE Must Kick In 2017

4. Cheesy Romance Angels

If there’s one thing worse than a bad comedy skit, it’s a bad romance angle. WWE have been telling hamfisted love tales for years now, and while such stories are natural for the company’s soap opera-like environment, they’re almost always among WWE’s worst ideas. From Mark Henry and Mae Young to Dawn Marie and Al Wilson, WWE history is littered with atrocious romance angles, and the current examples aren’t much better.

Enzo Amore’s pursuit of Lana was skin-crawlingly bad, and painted the popular loudmouth as a creepy sleazebag. The ongoing Noam Dar/Alicia Fox/Cedric Alexander love triangle on 205 Live, meanwhile, is just as awful. Dar’s drooling obsession with Fox is flat-out embarrassing, and Alexander, a happily married man with several kids at home, has no chemistry whatsoever with Alicia.

These stories are so far removed from Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth that it’s not even funny. Unfortunately, WWE’s writing team just aren’t capable of telling these kind of stories without them coming-off as hokey anymore. It’s time to leave the dark ages behind, stop insulting everyone’s intelligence, and give women like Fox their due as performers, rather than positioning them as objects for the Cruiserweights to compete over.
