One of WWE's signature match types got its start in The Garden and, no, we aren't talking about The Punjabi Prison. The Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis got that "honour".

We are referring to the Elimination Chamber; the devilish cage in which six competitors are released from pods until all but one are left bloodied and beaten. At least, that was certainly the case before they made it much safer in 2017.

No padding was present for the event's debut outing at Survivor Series 2002 meaning Rob Van Dam, Kane, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, and World Heavyweight Champion Triple H would have to be extra careful to avoid injury. Sadly, this didn't happen in the case of Triple H's throat (which RVD accidentally crushed with a Frog Splash), but accidents aside, the first Chamber match was a great display of violence, innovation, and story-telling ending spectacularly when Shawn Michaels beat Trips to win his first world championship in over four years.

Even without this match, Survivor Series '02 would have been a special night in the garden; it was the night that Scott Steiner made his WWE return, swearing loudly just five minutes in. Never change, Scotty.
