10 Best Big Men In Wrestling Today
7. Shuji Ishikawa
Odds are that only hardcore puroresu fans know about Shuji Ishikawa, but that doesn't make his talent any less considerable or his achievements any less impressive. The 6'5", 286-pound titan is the only man in history to have held the Big Japan Pro Wrestling World Strong Heavyweight and Deathmatch Heavyweight Championships - in other words, he's as comfortable having hard-hitting, no-gimmicks bouts as he is getting slammed into fluorescent light tubes.
It's been in more recent years that the 40-year-old Ishikawa has made more of a move towards "legitimate" competition. He won the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Title from a state of vacancy in late 2014, and 100 days later, lost the title to BJW legend (and all-around superworker) Daisuke Sekimoto in what was widely praised as one of the best matches of 2015. All the while, Ishikawa's back bore the disturbing scars of a career spent in deathmatches.
Ishikawa continues to work in BJW (he and longtime partner Kohei Sato recently won the group's tag team titles), as well as racking up more and more matches in All Japan Pro Wrestling due to the affiliation between the two groups.
