Leave it to Vince McMahon to come up with the idea that the guy who cares dearly about the world he lives in should be cast as a bad guy, but WWE have done an outstanding job of creating an industry-leading villain in The New Daniel Bryan, whose environmentalist diatribes are so preachy and sanctimonious they compel even those inclined to agree with him to boo the man.

Turning the most beloved male performer in the company was a ballsy more, but it has paid dividends. Bryan's manner is loathsome. The WWE Champion is borderline messianic, and the writers are in the process of creating a new modern benchmark for cowardly heel title-holders.

There isn't a shortcut he won't take between the ropes, the Rowan partnership gives him even more avenues to behave like a complete hypocrite, and the hateful promos he brings down upon the audience never fail to incite. This bastard carries an eco-friendly WWE Championship around, for f*cks sake. He's the best.

A great heel should always find a rationale. They must believe that their actions, no matter how twisted, are justified, and should be unwavering in their belief that they are correct. That's The New Daniel Bryan to a tee.
